CRAZIES in the Kitchen

remember
on the CRAZY SPOT  in my Kitchen?
Well this post is about the making SANE of a CRAZY situation!
(Buddy) Papa?
(Papa) Yah Buddy?
(Buddy) Does Mama know you did that to the wall she just painted?
(Papa) umm I THINK so...
(clears throat)
(Buddy) i sure HOPE so...
as he screws in a piece of drywall on the other side..

do you remember what it LOOKED like?
all that electrical chaos?
see that crazyness
on the far right of the tiled wall?
a whole lot of ..
O MY!
yes that is a phone jack hooked up to NOTHING
a "pretend" phone jack

now it's
NICE & Clean
(i am breathing again... ahhhh)
He's put some of the electrical on the other side of the wall!
a nice outlet and the light switch!
LOVE IT!
How did he EVER come up with this idea?
I was annoying him about the UGH...
and  HE and MR. J started bantering around different ideas and options,
only to
come up with THIS idea!
I LOVE.
those Brainstorming Brilliant Minds
just LOVE THEM I tell ya!
do you remember Mr. J?
here he is holding a snake !
ok..
back to the post
a quick spackle with help me when I finish tiling my kitchen wall!
SO exciting!
slow and steady...
but still...there is NOTHING wrong with slow and steady
According to Aesop
it's the tortoise that wins in the end!
I know it LOOKS junky..
but after I sand and tile,
It WILL look FANTASTIC
now... to make smooth
the whole on the other wall!

busy happenings out of doors, Introducing Forrest and Peggy

lovely snow is falling!

and Opa is busy working on Forrest
have you met Forrest yet?
Forrest is what we have named our Tractor
(after Forrest Gump)
its a lawn tractor
with a SUPER cool blower attatchment!
We need new chains for it however..
and Opa is ON the job!

elsewhere on the property
I find Princess Sledding with Buddy
go go go!!!!

ah to hear the squeals of delight!

Victory!
so fun
and no one fell OFF

this is when I hear LOUD
sort of UGLY
rather angry IRRITATED sounds
coming from..
My BELOVED
Machine Man
and WHAT do I see?

Peggy our Pick UP truck
sliding down
it seems it's too slick to get BACK on the driveway
some thinking will happen
some strategy
after someone
relaxes,
Prays
and has a break
then, he will figure it ALL out with his BRILLIANCE
and Peggy will be JUST fine
on the drive
meanwhile
 THESE
 munchkins
are not disturbed in the
LEAST
isn't it wonderful?

so now you know who Forrest is
and Peggy too!

That wall... part 4 The changing of texture

It is snowing outside...
and as much as I just want to stay out of doors..
lunch needs to be made
and
I need to work on
THAT wall
with C.S.
but while waiting for him to set up the saw
and
nail gun
I can't help but step onto the front porch
to snap one photo of the beautiful view
now we've taught our 15 year old lad the safety techniques to using most of our power tools
but I prefer to supervise my
"apprentice"
in all such projects that require "POWER" tools
here he is cutting some of those sanded pallets
I rather like the look of the nails in the ends of the boards
so as long as they aren't split REAL badly
I prefer to leave them in

measuring and cutting make this feel like we are creating our own jigsaw puzzle
out of recycled
or up-cycled pallet boards!
It is SO fun!
we make sure to level each row

C.S. is getting very handy with the nail gun

I like that he is taking time to notice details...
like edges that fray
will give splinters later,
details matter so much
and teaching THAT to our kids is one thing
but seeing them GET it,
and OWN it
and NOT need me to nag them to notice
is like a HUG from the Lord :)
fantastic!
and then the reminder that..
he's fallible
as I look at the wall.
because THAT is all the boards they cut
sanded and prepared for me..
oh..
silly boyz
(giggling)
nice beginning
now to finish and PAINT it all!
so far.. so good

time to take the decorations down?

Did we REALLY decorate the Farm?
in the midst of ALL the crazy remodeling?
are we insane?

no.. we didn't REALLY
but we DID support my nephew's Cub Scout Pack
and bought one of their lovely
and expensive
(ha!)
wreaths
and hung it on the door!
Guess we'll have to take it down..
(clearing the throat..)
maybe tomorrow

THAT wall... part 3 The changing of colors

yep..
it's THAT wall again...
progress
at a snails pace
(giggles)
the look when we bought it
after we took everything out
it really is messy
it really IS
well
lets be HONEST
it's YELLOW!
and seeing as I am doing planking
but not fancy, FITTED planking
but
rather
recycling pallet boards
there might be..
well...
GAPS
and it occurred to me that I don't want to put the planks
ON a YELLOW wall
because I will have to forever SEE the yellow, glistening through the pallets
and it will look
NASTY
so some Kilz
(just in case)
and a roller
and WALL-A
looking better?
I think so.
Next..

deep woods walk, deep thoughts

lovely wanderings
wondering what is around the bend?
what's just ahead?

me too..
who KNOWS what will happen
what tomorrow might bring..
isn't life a grand adventure?
nature walks get my perspective so nice and in order
what does that for you?

Walking in a snowy wood...

I am a HUGE Robert Frost fan..
are you?
Princess is.. she adores him
and being here on the farm
REALLY
brings so many of his poems to mind

isn't this darling.. some snowy cones hidden between two gorgeous pines..

oh SOME day to get a photo of a lovely snowflake..
i am NOT there yet :)
All these details are glorious discoveries

Standing under Tree Beard
our ENORMOUS Pine
here is Tree beards base..
I don't have a great shot of the WHOLE tree yet
Tree Beard is rather large

walking in the snowy woods..
lovely
thinking some hot tea will be wonderful later

Queen Anne's lace closed up for winter
and covered in a blanket of snow

so pretty!

Lovely Blessings Farm with a light dusting..
just wonderful
