Tis the season...snowball bushes..

one of my first enchanting views of the house...
well...
sort of see the house
What we actually see in this picture
is a sweet farm house peeking behind some
HUGE Snowball bushes!!
as if it were playing hide and go seek with us
after much discussion.
sometimes HEATED discussions...
or rather LIVELY discussions
about how much I LOVED the bushes
and how much Machine Man Hated them..
what finally came out was that we were in actually
in complete agreement
we BOTH hated to see these bushes we LOVED
(ok perhaps love is to strong a word for Machine Man's feelings)
directly in front of the house...
then more discussion on WHERE they should go...

it was decided...
per my suggestion that they OUGHT to go all the way down the lane!

and so ..
SPRING IS HERE!
and
'Tis the season...
and all that

digging trenches has BEGUN!
as Machine Man encouraged C.S.
"Son.. years from now when I am old and grey ...
you can tell your children, how you planted these bushes when you were a lad...
it will be grand"
and it WILL
it really really will

Walking on pretty

Floors are DONE!
I used White Semi Gloss Porch Paint
and Forgot
to take a snap of the can...
next room...
sorry
here are some shots
I LOVE the look
I find it dreamy
and clean
and lovely
i do wonder...
if i ought to have gone with gloss
for better durability and clean up
but I simply adore the look..
o MY
pretty!
next the trim!
Annie Sloan Chalk paint!
so exciting!
and you wonder...
was I inspired by the nature all around me?
take a look at these sweet flowers I got a shot of...
tell me what YOU think !
would YOU be inspired?
shades of whites...
I am LOVING the Littlest Room!
Bed Bought!
Night Stands Bought
Bedding Bought

our secret garden... secret because it's forgotton

so the daughter told us when it was sold...
that the property USED TO BE on the garden tours...
REALLY
that scraggly old heap of a mess??
Princess and I looked at one another with eyes knowing..
no doubt in our eyes at all
we'd seen the leaves...
we KNEW there were hidden treasures beneath the chaos...
but COULD they be reclaimed?
Machine Man held out NO hope
C.S. only doubt an disbelief...
Buddy only apathy and delight in berries
the season for work...has come upon us
and work there is a plenty
from what neighbors speculate...
the fancy garden may have been forgotten for at LEAST 2-3 years...
that is a LOT of clearing we need to do...
let me tell ya!
but beneath it,
as we gently pull away
we find treasure after treasure!
it's just that there is such a VOLUME of clearing that needs doing
and it needs to be done ...
gently

pretty
by my back door

here is one view..
can you grasp the enormity?
oh MY!

on section cleared away
lots of rocks..
it is layered to make the garden steeped..
rather smart considering the incline it is on...

should look beautiful as things fill in!
there are even strawberry plants as underbrush!
blackberries
raspberries
black raspberries
oh MY!
another section cleared..
well almost..
looks pretty good ...
so exciting!

what do you think?
so much more to do...
think I need to take a break and get on with the painting
of the floors
in the
Littlest Room
don't YOU???

just a little ORDER in the home

yes
I do like order
in the midst of
EVERYTHING
I do like
ORDER
so we lugged up some things to help me have a little bit of it
whilst we live there this time...
home education is a blast
but it includes MORE than just books...
things like..
tiling,
plumbing,
sustainable farming,
ecology,
painting, (house & artistic)
forestry,
scouting,
sewing,
cooking,
baking,
construction,
animal husbandry,
service,
work,
and, and ... and...ooodles of things that do not NEED "books".
Home Education also
DOES include BOOKS
(at least in OUR home)
and they need their proper space to dwell
(at least in OUR home)
and here they are
(for now)
happy day!

good use of the now defunct
wood burning stove ... yes?
ahhh
now
off to gardening class!

Littlest Room...walking on...

so to START with
the floors in the littlest room were SCARY to say the least
remember this???
and this??
and how even after sweeping all that mess up
it STUCK
like THIS???
and
???
well  friends,
CLEAN UP TIME
 HAS COME!
and try as I might
I could find no ACTUAL way to get the floors clean
other than
a good old fashioned scrub brush
some Murphy's Oil Soap
H20 in a bucket
and
a wee bit of elbow grease
and
knee grease for that matter ...
 (ouch!)
yep...
it was a LABOR of love
I started to feel the connection one feels to Ma Engles
of Little House in the Big Wood
that floor was FILTHY!
started remembering the Last Samuri
and how that gal shot dagger eyes at tom cruise
when he just walked across the floor with his muddy boots
after she cleaned the WHOLE floor...
yep..
after using all sorts of fancy floor cleaning items
and owning nice shiny floors
I started feeling a kindred spirit to women of the ages
and it was good
(painful) but good...
not that I need to bond with them all too often...

just once per room it would seem...
ugh

doesn't THAT look nice..???
wash your feet before entering!

I waited till the floors were dry
and got out my SMART PRIME!
by guess who?
Zissner ! :)

I edged it out keeping with the grain

i ended up going over that far wall on the right a second time
realizing my mistake.. the people had previously stained AROUND only the rug
leaving beneath the rug BARE!
thus where they stained will be more difficult to cover...

so I will go over that again

there all done..
time to dry!
tomorrow..
time for painting!
color?
white!!!
this is the smallest
darkest room in the house
and I want it to be the lightest
airy-iest
most romantic
dreamiest
room in the whole house
because it is going to be MINE!
now..
to shop online for MY new bed!
bliss!

Littlest Room! Walls of Fresh Laundry!

So I was feeling INSPIRED by Nature...
not usually FEELING the BLUE color
I was indeed FEELING it
when I saw
"Fresh Laundry"
if you go
and enter the color Fresh Laundry
you'll see why...
its white..
almost
i wanted white
but with WHITE ceiling
and soon to be wide planked WHITE floors
and
WHITE w/gray trim...
i thought perhaps
a hint
just a hint of something
would be nice

and these beautiful pale hues
just kept jumping out at me

no..
not the greens
the blue's

there..
can you see it?
barely?

it's SO hard to get on film!!!!!
it's SO pretty!

Littlest Room! Ceiling!!!!!

Yep...
Those Super Savvy Mamma's prepped the Littlest Room
but it's time to start finishing it up!
and I rather like going
Top down
so...
we
shall start with the ceiling
and
as I adore Zissner products

loving how it goes ON pink

and dries white
(Can you see it?)

I decided to have Machine Man put it on...
His being so tall..
He's just naturally CLOSER to the ceiling...
it's easier for him..
sort of like my theory of having the children pick things up off the floor
because they are shorter
and the items are CLOSER to them...
works for me!

LOOKS GOOD!
when it is dry it is pink
I am sooo excited!
Wait till you see the color I picked for the walls!
I wonder how it will SHOW on the blog though.. hmmmm
happy painting!
