Pinch Me, PRETTY!

so
my Machine Man's Brother came
with his lovely Bride
AND
(drum roll please)
their beloved daughter
Yippee!
another one of my nieces came to the farm!
At 17 Months she really
IS
"Pinch me Pretty"
a TOTAL cutie patootie
She's most ALWAYS happy
pleasant
and cute
now...
having had four this age
I know that things may not
BE
as they appear
(toddler-hood WHAT it is)
but we have been SO blessed
to always seem to catch her on her BEST days!
She's a BLAST!
and hard to track down with a camera !
Meet J.J. !
Little Man and J.J get along JUST fine!
he's pretty glad to see her
she's pretty happy to see
well
EVERYONE!
Posing so like a
Ballerina
what a pumpkin!
Her lovely coloring makes me think of a
wee
Anne
of
Green Gables!
look what she found to dance upon!
my beautiful
PINCH
me
PRETTY
floors!
for all you who guessed
here and/or on facebook..
The color that won
was Larvik
the black one!
it has rich brown tones
but the stain is a black
and
we LOVE how it looks
with the Paris Grey Trim
and the China White walls
what do YOU think

LL Flooring... Stang-Lund part 1

so... it 's all done that is gonna get done
BEFORE
the "Flooring Guy" comes over
the boxes and stuff are just WAITING for him to open
and put together
The trim looks good in the Living room
In the LL Guest Room, I only painted the Windows
WHY???
well.. Machine Man mentioned something about
replacing the base boards because of NOT having any
where the closet WAS
and he is project "planning" thinking...etc
MY THOUGHT
is that Annie Sloan Chalk Paint
costs a bit of money
and IT is never meant to be wasted on trim that
MAY
or
May NOT
come out..
not doing it..
I will wait for his final thoughts before wasting paint and energy
wouldn't YOU?
there is the ceiling
still drying...
and here is phase ONE!
The "flooring Guy is laying down
the Scuba liner!
isn't it cool?
it's a good moisture barrier
it cracks me UP!
That said one more day to GUESS the color!!!
Which one...
do YOU think
that we picked???
come on..
you can do it..
GUESS!

LL Guest room patch work !

So when Machine Man left things looked like this
Whilst I THOUGHT he was upstairs unpacking
I suddenly realize
I am hearing the sound of a drill..
Then it stops..
finally I think.. perhaps I ought to investigate..
yep.. there is a drill
and sounds of talking coming from LL Guest Room
so.. I slowly came around the corner to peek
at what was happening..
Woo hoo!
Time for the Repair!
it really helps that Machine Man is so tall..
no.. we've not figured out exactly what we want to do.. about that
long gap in our wall..
thinking creatively..
it'll come to us
time for the tape stuff
it is never fun to work on ceilings...
Thankfully he has some pretty good
products to work with..
I love my DAP...
now..
dry ceiling DRY
the flooring guy is coming soon
and we must be a wee bit
MORE done with this room
than we are right now..

Kitchen flooring!

a little bit of stretching required...
when you don't have traditional cabinetry..
YUP
I had a volunteer in my sidekick Princess...
and now that the floor is primed
with coats of Zissner
it's time for our Porch Paint..
(not oil based)
we are thankful at how little this smells...
the first coat we did edge out by hand and then
Roller In..
we were shocked at how thin the porch paint is
compared to wall paint
and primer...
but the next morning there were too many little spots
and for the following 2 coats I painted only by hand
It is so fun to see the stark difference of it all!
and I LOVE how I can see that beautiful grain beneath the
Black Jack color
so pretty!
Now Machine Man can get that guy over to help with
my copper pipes for our propane..
Which we don't YET have..
and then....
so exciting!

Floors floors floors....

The time has come, to get the kitchen floor DONE!
and first comes some scrubbing
ok.. a LOT of scrubbing...
and I have my trusty sidekick to help me ...
we wanted to do that in the evening..
and then...
when it is all completed..
take the time to prime it really GOOD before bed
so it can dry before Little Man wakes
and gets curious
first coat is done
and looking really good!
funny as small as the kitchen is..
painting by brush it takes time
we had to stop before we got to the dining area
or what WILL be the sitting room/buffet room..
why stop?
because nearly everything that goes IN the kitchen
is IN this room.. and I can barely FIND the floor for walking...
in the morning AFTER some little boys were up,
dressed and BEING fed
I did the second coat
and then we had to LEAVE
to keep curious stomping feet OUT...
Where to go?
somewhere to look for flooring for the family room!
and the guest room!
it was quite the adventure
and we found a super gallery about an hours drive..
(after a LOT of other spots THIS was the place for us!)
beautiful.. but not quite the look for us

really neat.. but.. again..
it's an old farm house..
not a cabin...

love the dark side on the left.. but it seems almost
TOO rustic
gorgeous but too... perfect..
oh this IS going to be a challenge!
We need something that won't off gas
that is LOCAL
and is clean
for varying health issues
and this is what we stumbled across...
This ..
local wood, treated the old Scandinavian way
with oils and it's NO VOC, no off gasing..
all safe and pretty for me..
AND
we've picked our color
but can you guess WHICH one???
come on..
leave a comment with the color YOU think we picked
and what YOU would pick!

Walking on pretty

Floors are DONE!
I used White Semi Gloss Porch Paint
and Forgot
to take a snap of the can...
next room...
sorry
here are some shots
I LOVE the look
I find it dreamy
and clean
and lovely
i do wonder...
if i ought to have gone with gloss
for better durability and clean up
but I simply adore the look..
o MY
pretty!
next the trim!
Annie Sloan Chalk paint!
so exciting!
and you wonder...
was I inspired by the nature all around me?
take a look at these sweet flowers I got a shot of...
tell me what YOU think !
would YOU be inspired?
shades of whites...
I am LOVING the Littlest Room!
Bed Bought!

Littlest Room...walking on...

so to START with
the floors in the littlest room were SCARY to say the least
remember this???
and this??
and how even after sweeping all that mess up
it STUCK
like THIS???
and
???
well  friends,
CLEAN UP TIME
 HAS COME!
and try as I might
I could find no ACTUAL way to get the floors clean
other than
a good old fashioned scrub brush
some Murphy's Oil Soap
H20 in a bucket
and
a wee bit of elbow grease
and
knee grease for that matter ...
 (ouch!)
yep...
it was a LABOR of love
I started to feel the connection one feels to Ma Engles
of Little House in the Big Wood
that floor was FILTHY!
started remembering the Last Samuri
and how that gal shot dagger eyes at tom cruise
when he just walked across the floor with his muddy boots
after she cleaned the WHOLE floor...
yep..
after using all sorts of fancy floor cleaning items
and owning nice shiny floors
I started feeling a kindred spirit to women of the ages
and it was good
(painful) but good...
not that I need to bond with them all too often...

just once per room it would seem...
ugh

doesn't THAT look nice..???
wash your feet before entering!

I waited till the floors were dry
and got out my SMART PRIME!
by guess who?
Zissner ! :)

I edged it out keeping with the grain

i ended up going over that far wall on the right a second time
realizing my mistake.. the people had previously stained AROUND only the rug
leaving beneath the rug BARE!
thus where they stained will be more difficult to cover...

so I will go over that again

there all done..
time to dry!
tomorrow..
time for painting!
color?
white!!!
this is the smallest
darkest room in the house
and I want it to be the lightest
airy-iest
most romantic
dreamiest
room in the whole house
because it is going to be MINE!
now..
to shop online for MY new bed!
bliss!
