a view

this is one of my favorite views
from the front porch..

i had to stand on my
VERY
tippyiest toes
so you wouldn't SEE
the ginormous trash dumpster parked just out of sight
on the bottom right
or all the construction junk
scattered on the bottom and to the right..
the porch is nearly fully complete
finishing touches
like
railings going up
this week
I hope…

isn't this such a nice view :)
looking forward to sitting down
and seeing it

wee updates on porch

YES it feels like progress
is slower than
molasses
but
doesn't it look PRETTY that new siding?

and how about that ceiling?

I love the way it makes the door color POP!

here is a photo from about 3-4 weeks ago

believe it or not
this is all that was done since…
the two pad areas were laid out..
why the delay..?
they had MORE snow!
Icy cold & Wisconsin snows
will reek havoc on newly poured concrete
so..
Patiently and expectantly I await it's completion..
(psst.. supposedly… it SHOULD be done for Memorial Day weekend)
so so so hopefilled!
praying for the builders
for their diligence
for the weather
for their family life
for their safety
for all their jobs to run smoothly
and for me
to be at peace in the final stretch of the wait!

Front porch update

what a view
I so look forward to just sitting out there and relaxing

since I snapped these photo's
Mr. M put up the new siding…
and whilst I have been away
he's finished the ceiling too!

Isn't it coming together
beautifully?

I know.. yer looking at the "bare bones" of our project
but
I love the bones of a project
and I love dressing it too!

soon I get to hunt for
ceiling fans
(summer is coming soon!)
and can lighting
and a new porch light
then..
we'll have to dress it all up

here is the view leading to the back door
and the big supper bell
:)
the stairs will lead down, and then
the steps will lead back up
we hope to make a path from where they meet
into the garden…
every living plant directly NEXT to the house
will be pulled out and transplanted..
I don't trust the mice
we'll be building that up a bit and filling with stones
and putting some beautiful
big plant containers there
field mice belong
IN the field
and not in my basement
not ever
so, I just think I ought to continue to deter them
so far so good!

so far, it's sure looking pretty
so eager for each step
our sweet farmhouse is REALLY coming together!

how's it coming?

i know..
you are just doubling up in anxiety to
discover
HOW the PORCH is coming..
right?
it's coming!
The roofing is on
and
it's getting it's shape!
looks pretty with all this snow
don't you think?

here's how it looks up close
see the pretty columns?
We'll be painting those white

LOVE the great big span
don't you?

Just LOOK at those electrical boxes!
wooo hoo!
up there will be two fans
and a bunch of recessed lights

can't you just…
envision it ?
I am SO excited!

Blessings Farm's
sweet little farmhouse
is starting
to look more balanced
more how she SHOULD look
very very comfy
elegant
and
stress free…
hammock
or swing
or …
dare I say
both?
canasta anyone?

transforming a house...

back when this 1870s farm house grabbed our hearts...

the following spring you can really see the roof need to be
beautified… (updated)
and the porch looks as though we might see it fall of..
it won't
but..
it sure looks SAD

so over the summer
Machine Man & C.S.
began taking it down…
thanks with help from Princess and Tenderfoot
we saved a LOT of money because of these four!

and so it looked.. for many weeks.. (months)
but things are happening...
YES!!!
it's not done YET but...

can't you just see card games happening?
book reading
and family time?

isn't the space
just LOVELY?

plenty of room for Family and friends!!!

we are SO excited…
aren't YOU?
more to come as it nears completion!

oh MY… so exciting

everywhere..
ok..
NOT quite everywhere
but it seems like NEARLY everywhere
that I walk..
I bump into
THESE
you are SO wondering..
WHY???
yes?
well

it may be a late start
but we are FINALLY starting on
the FRONT PORCH!!!
Thanks to Mr.T
we have saved (we hope)
MOST of the rose garden!
and now we have these

gargantuan holes…
they are huge…
really really huge!
and deep..
hense
big pallets all over my lawn
so we don't lose any of our sweet blessings!

Bringing the porch DOWN

ummm
posts & railings are GONE...
where was I?
better go and see the progress so far...
wow!
C.S. is really stepping up and helping out Papa
Machine Man is thrilled to have such great helpers!
is it appropriate to say OUCH?
They are leaving part of the roof on,
so to not damage the actual wall of the house
when rain and weather come...
it is a
real
family effort!
Even Princess is helping out!
our helper girl
was all dressed and ready to play hide and seek...
nearly done with the flooring
fun to learn about where the lumber came from
Friedrich (Frederick) Weyerhäuser (November 21, 1834 in Nieder-SaulheimRheinhessen - April 4, 1914 in PasadenaCalifornia[2]) was a German-American timber mogul and founder of the Weyerhaeuser Company
(Wikipedia)
Machine Man is getting tired..
this is a "vacation weekend" that he's working on..
I sure hoped we finish it in one day
so he can just
CHILL OUT
and
RELAX
attractive isn't it?
nearly done
wow
now for some clean up...
and some
FOOD!
here is the farm house
minus
the porch...
all i can think
is how nice it will be when we have
a nice big new on that sweet farmhouse

Pitter Patter on the Porch

Little Man
has indeed DISCOVERED the porch
and it is utter bliss
to run and jump and thud upon it..

Thankfully
while ugly and in need of repair
it was deemed safe
(not by a MOM - but rather by the inspector)

I am a BIG fan of front porches
and we plan on doing a tear down to this one
and putting in something bigger
I love that Little Man enjoys POUNDING the floor
 as LOUD as he can
It must FEEL nice
it certainly is loud

it isn't easy to find plans,
does one need an architect?
who builds big front porches anyways..?
so much to learn
and I am not the only one learning

Little Man is learning new things all the time!
and my little lad cares NOT one bit for my plans
he's thrilled with life on the farm
JUST as it is
exploring new things EACH and every day

TA DAH !!!
(hmm we need to do something about this!)

He has looked down and decided
NOT to proceed any farther
and we're off and running!
